Gina Nuñez has held several roles in the Center for Access and Attainment since 2008 and has served as assistant director since 2012. In her role, she develops and implements communication and outreach strategies to identify and select candidates for the Arnold Mitchem Fellows program, and provides advising to program participants. Working in conjunction with the TRIO McNair Scholars Program, Gina supports Mitchem participants in an effort to strengthen the pathway to doctoral admission for students underrepresented in higher education.
As a first-generation, student of color from Chicago who was a McNair Scholar at DePaul, she understands the importance of educating underrepresented students about the possibilities of post-baccalaureate education. Gina takes great pride in mentoring and advising students to develop their research interests and other skills to help ensure success in graduate school.
Gina holds a BA in communication and an MA in multicultural communication, both from DePaul.
