Brian Spittle is in his 26th year of administration at DePaul University. As assistant vice president, he oversees the Center for Access and Attainment, which encompasses the university's TRIO programs, the division's community outreach activities, and partnerships with Chicago's public and Catholic schools.
For the past decade he has been particularly involved with developing a close partnership between the university and the International Baccalaureate programs in Chicago Public Schools, serving students from predominantly low-income and first-generation college families.
Brian is engaged with a number of higher education access initiatives and organizations both in the United States and the United Kingdom. He is an active member of the Council for Opportunity in Education, the membership organization for federal TRIO programs, and serves on the Steering Committee for the University of Chicago Consortium on Chicago School Research and the University and College Relations Committee of IB Americas.
Brian has a BA in politics from Nottingham University in England, an MA in political science from McMaster University in Canada and a PhD in social and philosophical foundations of education from the University of Buffalo, New York.
