Faculty Instructional Technology Services (FITS)

The DePaul Online Teaching Series (DOTS) received the 2012 Sloan Consortium Award for Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching.

FITS leverages innovative pedagogical strategies and emergent technology to facilitate transformative course design in collaboration with faculty and academic leadership.

To accomplish this, we

  • Foster collaborative relationships.
  • Provide faculty with consultation on best practices in instructional technology.
  • Design online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
  • Support end-users of instructional applications.

Instructional Technology Support

FITS manages DePaul’s Learning Management System, Desire2Learn and ePortfolio system, Digication.  FITS works in collaboration with the Technology Support Center (TSC) to provide email and in-person support to faculty teaching with technology.  FITS staff also work with faculty in exploring new technology such as Mobile Learning.

Faculty Development

FITS offers individual appointment and group workshops on a variety of instructional technologies. FITS also offers the DePaul Online Teaching Series (DOTS), an award-winning professional-development program designed to help faculty make the transition from face-to-face to online teaching.  Through the Global Learning Experiences program, FITS assists faculty in integrating meaningful global conversations into their courses.

Course Design and Enhancement

Our instructional technology consultants work with faculty to:

Clarify instructional objectives
Design, develop, and assess instructional strategies
Research, select, and implement appropriate technologies
Design and develop online and hybrid courses
Ensure online and hybrid course meet nationally recognized quality standards
Plan and implement global learning experiences
