The Asset-Based Community Development Institute (ABCD)
is at the center of a large and growing movement that considers local assets as the primary building blocks of sustainable community development. Building on the skills of local residents, the power of local associations, and the supportive functions of local institutions, asset-based community development draws upon existing community strengths to build stronger, more sustainable communities for the future.

Irwin W. Steans Center for Community-Based Service Learning & Community Service Studies located in Chicago, Illinois.
Position Opening
DePaul University is hiring an Assistant Director of ABCD Institute Partnerships. This position supports the administrative operations of the ABCD Institute and is located within the Steans Center at DePaul in Chicago, IL.
Kim Hopes served the Institute for several years in this role and recently retired.

Workshop
The ABCD Institute has two offerings that provide an introduction to Asset-Based Community Development
A dynamic 18-hour workshop introducing the core principles and applications of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) in the context of local communities. Presentations and discussions will occur in light of current conversations about equity and social justice and will enable participants to think deeper about responses to these challenges.
Introduction to Asset-Based Community Development
When and Where:
Dates: Six Tuesdays October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and November 19 with a break (October 29 - November 18) to conduct community listening projects.
Time: 1:00- 4:00 PM Central US Time.
An online event: This will be a virtual training via Zoom. The Workshop will be limited to 25 participants
Registration Information & Fees
Institution Based Practitioner (organizations with budgets over 1 million dollars) $800 USD
Institution Based Practitioner (organizations with budgets under 1 million dollars) $600 USD
Community-Based Practitioner (individuals): $450 USD

Jody's ability to see the gifts in individuals even when they couldn't themselves, to identify and value the assets that exist in all communities along with his welcoming, warm spirit was a gift to this world.
