In January 2017, 138 people from 15 countries gathered in Goa,
India for the Second Annual ABCD International Festival. Many thanks to ABCD
Faculty member, Peter Friend and Executive Officer, Maria D’Souza for providing
the coordination through Peter’s organization, Bank of I.D.E.A.S. to make this
event possible. What an inspiring and amazing opportunity to focus on the
philosophy and practice of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) over five
plus days. Most of all, having the time and opportunity to meet practitioners
from all over the world to connect and share stories and ideas was invaluable.
The program was filled with an enriching combination of ABCD
presenters from across the globe as well as a cultural and historical education
about the local Goan community and the ways they are using ABCD principles.
Master classes before the event included:
- Asset-Based Community Development: From wrong to Strong
- The Art of Creating Great Places and Communities
- Engaging the Millennials in Community Building
- Measuring Impact in ABCD
- Beyond Basics
- Life in the Past Lane
For those who did not have the opportunity to attend, check out the
