Compliance with City of Chicago Vaccine Health Order

Beginning January 3, 2022 we will comply with the City of Chicago health order for those ages 5 and over to show proof of full vaccination status. See below for the requirements and protocol at The Ray.

Beginning January 3, we will comply with the City of Chicago health order for those age 5 and over to show proof of vaccination each visit* to The Ray.

  • DePaul students, faculty, and staff have completed this verification previously with the university.
  • All other members and guests will show forms of verification listed below.
  • *Keep on File - Voluntary: Stop by Membership Services to if you wish to keep your verification information on file.
    • Vaccination Verification includes:
      • Valid photo ID for age 16+ AND
      • One of the following: Vaccination Card or photocopy or digital copy or picture of vaccination card
      • Last shot of vaccination series (or Johnson & Johnson single shot) must be at least 14 days prior to Ray entry date
  • The Chicago order allows for previous medical and religious exemptions with proof of negative test from a medical provider within the last 72 hours.
  • This requires verification by administrative staff during business hours (Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5 pm).
  • If you CANNOT visit The Ray during M-F business hours, email Sarah Hardin at shardin1@depaul.edu at least 2 full business days prior to your desired entry date.
  • In order to establish this exemption, a letter from your medical provider or employer demonstrating a previous exemption MUST be verified by an administrative staff member prior to your entry.
    • Upon approval by staff, your exemption will be entered into your account on file; at that point, each time you enter, you will be required to show proof of negative test by a medical provider (not at-home testing) taken within 72 hours prior to entry.
  • Masks: In alignment with mask guidance issued by the State of Illinois and Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), DePaul University and The Ray require everyone—regardless of vaccination status—to wear a face mask indoors.

  • Masks should fully cover nose, mouth and chin as well as be closed above the nose and below the chin (gaiters and valve masks are not sufficient).

  • All patrons over the age of 2 must wear a mask at all times while in The Ray except while in the swimming pool or the showers.
  • Patrons who will not comply with the mask requirement will not be allowed to continue to use the facility until they are willing to comply.
