​What's New at The Ray?
  • ​Online Access: Having trouble accessing the App or Online Portal? As of April 12, access our upgraded system by registering your account on our NEW App OR online link:
    • Download the App: Apple - "The Ray at DePaul - New"; Android - "The Ray at DePaul University"
    • Connect to Online Portal​
    • The password that is set up in our old system will not transfer, but as you set up your account in the new system, you will be able to change it to the same one. ​
    • Make sure you use the name and email address that you have on file with us. If you have trouble accessing with one email, try another one.
    • Once you have set up your account and have a new login and password in either the App or the Portal, those credentials will work in the other one to bring up your account. 
    • On your new account, you will easily be able to register for Group Fitness Classes and other programs, reserve a racquetball court, link payment information to your account, change your email address, and more!

COVID-19 Protocols: There are currently no COVID-19 related protocols in place. 
  • ​Vaccine Policy:  A COVID-19 vaccine is recommended, but not required for facility access. 

  • Mask Policy:  Mask are recommended, but not re​quired for participation in The Ray. The Ray remains a mask-friendly facility. 



New and Reactivating Members: We welcome all community and DePaul alumni and their dependents to reactivate or purchase a new membership. See Membership page for details.

DePaul Student Memberships: DePaul part-time undergraduate students, Law,  and part or full-time graduate students are eligible to purchase quarterly memberships. Full-time undergraduates are already paying for a Ray membership through their tuition and fees. (Just use your ID card to enter The Ray!)

Visiting Student Memberships: Visiting students from other universities may purchase a semester or summer membership at a special rate. Check out the Membership page for details. 

  • Additional Membership / Ray Access Options:
    • Guest Pass Limits: A member may bring in three guests ($15 daily fee) per visit.
    • Non-Member Pass Packages: One-month passes and 5/10 punch passes are available for those who do not want full recurring memberships (these “passes" do not include member discounts for programs or services). See Membership: "Short Term Passes" section for details.
    • Alumni Self-Sponsor Single Entry Pass: Alumni may purchase a daily pass ($14 daily fee) in addition to the option of a full membership. Proof of DePaul graduation / alumni status is required.
    • Single Entry Community Pass: Non-DePaul Affiliates may purchase a single entry pass for $25. 

Facilities / Program Updates

  • Daily Locker Use: Patrons may use their keytag or student ID in exchange for a locker key, but paper checkout slips will still be available if that is preferred by the patron.
  • Studio Fitness Spaces: Reservations are not required for the studios but are sometimes reserved for programs, classes, or outside groups. 
  • Courts (3rd Floor): The multipurpose courts on the third floor do not require reservation, but are sometimes in use by reserved groups. 
    • The courts may be used for basketball or set up upon request for volleyball, badminton, or pickleball with no restrictions.
    • Courts (Racquetball): We will continue to take reservations for the racquetball courts just as we did pre-pandemic. They may be made on the App, online, by phone or in-person.
  • Fitness Equipment: Certain sections of equipment may include “every other machine" signs to assist thosewho are still uncomfortable with close contact. We ask that patrons continue to wipe down ALL equipment before and after use.
  • Track: The track is reserved for use by the DePaul Track Team, Monday - Friday 1 - 3:30pm. Members may access the track and the track infields during all other facility hours.
  • Pool: See pool hours on the Ray Hours page. Members may access the pool lanes during all hours but lane availability may be limited / lane sharing may be required during swim lesson and DePaul academic class times.
  • Group Fitness Classes: See information about access below. 
  • Group Fitness Classes: Reservations are recommended for group fitness classes, but walk-ins may participate if the class is not already full.
    • In order for a class to run, at least 2 people need to be registered an hour prior to class.
    • If there are still open spots available in the class when the instructor arrives, patrons who have not pre-registered may participate by signing in with the instructor.
    • Group fitness class capacity will be set depending on the class type and content.
    • If the instructor or other Ray staff inform you that the class is closed to more participants, those decisions are final. 

Selected recreational equipment is available for check out at the front desk. We ask that you return it to the front desk so that we may check it back in and not charge your account. Do not leave equipment upstairs on the courts or laying around in the facility.

  • Outdoor equipment: Footballs, flags, and soccer balls

** Please Note: Patrons must supply own raquetballs and badminton shuttlecocks (birdies) - these are available for purchase from the Pro Shop at the front desk. 

Lost and Found Service

  • Items that are found will be logged into our database and you may inquire about them.
  • Most items are kept for a week or more with more "valuable" items being kept in a safe.
  • Please contact us at 773-325-4560 during open hours to inquire about lost items
  • Children under 16: ARE allowed in the facility during children's access hours when accompanied by a parent/guardian/another adult member.
    • Children's Access Hours: During DePaul Academic Quarters: M - TH 9 am - Noon; F/SA/SU - All Open Hours; Summer and DePaul University Academic Breaks - All Hours that corresponds to their guardians' membership type (i.e. Children of Blue Members may access The Ray during all Blue Member Hours).
    • Parents/Guardians need to visit the Membership Desk to activate their child(ren)'s account (show birth certificate or guardianship paperwork), sign a risk liability waiver, a COVID waiver, and have their child(ren)'s picture taken before children may enter.
