The suspense is over! After about a year without a convenient grocery store, Whole Foods
is coming to DePaul’s Lincoln Park campus
. Students had great opportunity, as the first 500 customers in line will receive a gift card with a possible amount of 5-50 dollars. One lucky customer received a $500 gift card.
Whole Foods is replacing the long time grocery store, Dominick’s, which has recently sold the rest of their stores to Jewel Osco, Whole Foods, and Mariano’s. Students will surely greet the new store with a warm welcome having not had the convenience of Dominick’s for the past year. The grand opening is taking place Wednesday February 25th, 2015 at 9am. The Whole Foods will once again provide a grocery store on campus for DePaul students to use and offers a café in-store, something students are familiar with from the old days of Dominick’s and Starbucks.
Some students have expressed concern about the high prices that accompany the Whole Foods name saying they still might be forced to go elsewhere. The store looks great from outside and provides a nice view of the Fullerton on higher levels. Along with the view, there is also what looks to be a walk through where students can line up for morning café goods. This will surely be giving Dunkin Donuts under the L some competition. No matter what conflicts surround the opening Whole Foods, I am still looking forward to attending the grand opening and having a store to shop at that is on campus.
