DePaul Gaming League

​​​​​​​​​​​​​Join us for the Summer Season of the DePaul Gaming League!

DePaul community members are welcomed to sign up for the second season of the DePaul Gaming League. The summer season will consist of single day tournaments for a variety of PC and Console games, including Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. Each week, tournaments will take place Thursdays at 7pm. Sign up is available for each tournament until noon the day of play.

Tournament Dates & Registration

Player Eligibility:
This tournament is open to DePaul current students, admitted students, faculty/staff, and alumni. To register, you must own a copy of Rocket League, have the necessary hardware needed to compete, be in the DePaul Rocket League Discord, and have submitted the registration form above.

Format:

  • Teams will be placed into a single-elimination bracket consisting of Bo5 games. Grand Finals will be Bo7.
  • Settings:
    • Mutators: Off
    • Game: Standard 3v3
    • Map: Champions Field

Rules:

  • Follow the professional integrity guidelines below
  • All teams should be in the designated DePaul Rocket League voice channels
  • Any players streaming the match should stream with a 75-second delay
  • After each match, winning teams should report their scores in #RL-scores along with a screenshot or twitch clip/vod link
  • Teams are not permitted any spectators unless streamed by tournament admin.
  • No subs will be permitted, and your team should match what was submitted

Bracket: The bracket will be generated 4 hours before the match begins.

Prizing: Each member of the winning team will receive prizes based on each tournament.

Professional Integrity:
Players, coaching staff, and all parties involved are expected to hold a professional attitude in their manners, play, and interactions with other teams. Coaches and players not actively playing in the current match are not allowed to discuss or communicate with players until the map is fully finished. The use of cheats, or third-party software will result in automatic disqualifications. Failure to abide by these guidelines will result in disqualification from the tournament if admins deem necessary.

Super Smash Bros. Gaming League Logo
Tournament Dates & Registration

Player Eligibility:
Each tournament is open to participation to any current student at DePaul University, or any other BIG EAST-affiliated institutions. For summer 2020, members of BIG EAST institutions are also welcomed to join in for console based tournaments, including Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Register using the links above.

Game Settings:

  • 3 stocks, 8 minute timer.
    • In the case of a time out, sudden death will not be played. Instead, the player with the higher amount of remaining stocks, or with less accumulated damage in the case of an even stock count will be declared the winner of the match.
  • Items are set to OFF and NONE.
  • Underdog Boost is set to OFF.
  • Spirits are set to OFF.
  • Final Smash Meter is set to OFF.
  • Stage hazards are set to OFF.

Set Rules:

  • Stage striking for the first game in each set is done in a 1-2-1 format. “Gentleman’s Agreement” is also allowed.
  • DSR (Dave’s Stupid Rule) is not in effect.

  • Usage of a LAN adapter to connect via a wired connection is not required, however it is recommended for the highest quality of play possible.
    • In the case that both players are experiencing a sizable amount of lag or input delay that may interfere with the ability to finish the tournament match, a lag test can be called to determine if one player’s connection in particular may be causing the delay.

Set Rules:
Each tournament victor will receive a physical prize sent to them on behalf of DePaul University’s Office of Student Involvement.

Overwatch - Gaming League Logo

Player Eligibility:
This tournament is open to DePaul current students, admitted students, faculty/staff, and alumni. To register, you must own a copy of Overwatch, have the necessary hardware needed to compete, be in the DePaul FPS Discord, and have submitted the registration form above.

Format:

  • Teams will be placed into a single-elimination bracket consisting of Bo3 matches. Grand Finals will be Bo5.
  • Settings:
    • Game: Competitive Mode with killcams and skins off
    • Map Order:
      • Control, Hybrid, Escort (Assault, Control)
      • Control: Busan, Nepal, Lijiang Tower
      • Hybrid: Eichenwald, Hollywood, Kings Row
      • Escort: Dorado, Route 66, Gibraltar
      • Assault: Volskaya, Hanamura, Temple of Anubis
    • Hero Pools: No Hero Pools

Player Eligibility:
This tournament is open to DePaul current students, admitted students, faculty/staff, and alumni. To register, you must own a copy of Valorant, have the necessary hardware needed to compete, be in the DePaul FPS Discord, and have submitted the registration form above.

Format:

  • Teams will be placed into a double-elimination bracket consisting of Bo1s. Grand Finals will be Bo3. Players will play until a Winners Final and Losers Final and those two teams will consist of the Grand Finals.
  • Settings:
    • Cheats: Off
    • Game: Standard
    • Map: Dependent on the round (Bind/Split/Haven/Ascent)

Rules:

  • Follow the professional integrity guidelines below
  • All teams should be in the designated DePaul FPS voice channels
  • Any players streaming the match should stream with a 75-second delay
  • After each match, winning teams should report their scores in #val-scores along with a screenshot or twitch clip/vod link
  • Teams are not permitted any spectators unless streamed by tournament admin.
  • No subs will be permitted, and your team should match what was submitted

Tournament Dates & Registration

Player Eligibility:
Each tournament is open to participation to any current students, admitted students, alumni, or faculty/staff members at DePaul University. For summer 2020, members of BIG EAST institutions are also welcomed to join in for console based tournaments, including Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Signups can be found above and here.

Tournament Structure:

  • Each tournament is structured in an FFA format, with each entrant competing against each other in a room hosted by a tournament official.
    • Each participant will need to add the friend code of the room host, and join their lobby in-game.
  • In the event where over twelve players are entered in the tournament, the entrants will be divided evenly into smaller, 4-race pools to determine the entrants into the final 16-race pool.
    • The top cut of players in each room will be entered into the final room.
  • Course selection is handled as the game normally does, with each player choosing a map of their choice and the game randomly selecting one to play on.
  • Accumulated points are tallied at the end of the grand prix to determine overall tournament/round placements.
  • Changing character/kart combinations between races is allowed.
  • In the event of a player’s disconnection, the player is to attempt to rejoin the room as soon as they are able to. The points they earned before disconnection will be added onto their final tally at the end of the grand prix.

Game Settings:

  • COM’s are set to ON.
    • In the case where not all 12 spots in the race are occupied by players, the COM players will fill in the open gaps.
  • Speed class set to 150cc.
  • Items kept at NORMAL.
  • ALL vehicles are allowed.
  • Smart Steering is allowed.
  • Race Count set to either 4 or 16, depending on the tournament’s entrant count.

Prizing: Each tournament victor will receive a physical prize sent to them on behalf of DePaul University’s Office of Student Involvement.
