DePaul President Robert L. Manuel called upon faculty, staff and students “to engage, walk shoulder to shoulder with each other, and recommit ourselves to our mission, each other, and the people of Chicago” Friday as he was inaugurated as DePaul’s 13th president.

DePaul celebrated with student performances and readings during a ceremony Nov. 11 on the Lincoln Park Campus. The Board of Trustees and university community gathered to entrust Manuel with the university’s Catholic, Vincentian mission.

"The core of evidence for why we at DePaul matter is found between the creation of knowledge, its application to our community and the transformation of our students," Manuel said during his Inauguration speech. "In just 125 days, you taught me our mission is how we show the world our worth. Serving a Vincentian community for the first time is an incredible honor for me personally."

In the days leading up to Friday's culminating events, hundreds of Blue Demons gathered on campus to celebrate DePaul. From a National First-Gen Day Breakfast honoring the success of DePaul's first-generation students, faculty and staff to a conversation with Chicago historian and Tik Tok sensation Shermann "Dilla" Thomas highlighting the power of storytelling, the university community united in recognition of DePaul's past achievements and future endeavors.
