Chicago phase 1c update

In communications this week with DePaul representatives, the Chicago Department of Public Health reiterated its intention to include university employees in the city's next vaccination phase 1c. Anyone who works for DePaul would qualify, including all student employees, according to CDPH.

The city is still planning for phase 1c to begin March 29. Appointments for those eligible for phase 1c are not yet available. Please also keep in mind that it may be very difficult to get an appointment soon after the phase begins due to the large amount of people who will become eligible.

DePaul will continue to share information as it becomes available. More information about the city's plans are available at

United Center

While the state recently expanded vaccine access to people ages 16-64 with certain medical conditions, Chicago hasn't had enough supply of the vaccine to do the same. A federally run vaccine site opened on March 9 at the United Center, 1901 W. Madison St., to serve Chicagoans who are seniors or those who qualify under the state's expanded phase 1b, which covers people with certain medical conditions as defined by the state.

Please note on March 7, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, State of Illinois, Cook County and the City of Chicago announced a renewed focus on ensuring equitable access to the vaccine for this site. Guidance for the United Center vaccination site can be found on the city's website, under "eligibility."

Sign up for qualifying Chicago residents to be vaccinated at the United Center is at, or by calling call (312) 746-4835. The call center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

At other vaccination sites in Chicago, people in phase 1a, healthcare workers and residents and staff of long-term care facilities; and 1b, people age 65+ and prioritized essential worker groups, continue to be eligible for vaccination.

Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, 820 S. Damen Ave., has announced that any veteran enrolled for VA medical benefits may receive the vaccine at their facility. This is regardless of age or pre-existing health conditions.

If you are not enrolled for VA medical benefits or registered at Jesse Brown, you can find that information here under “Become a Patient."
