Lorene Yue joined DePaul University’s Office of Public Relations and Communications in 2017 after spending decades on the receiving end of story pitches. Her storytelling skills were honed as a business reporter for several daily newspapers including the Chicago Tribune, Detroit Free Press and Kansas City Star. Her last reporting assignment was at Crain’s Chicago Business where she covered higher education in addition to other beats. Yue also wrote, voiced and produced several videos for Crain’s Chicago Business including an award-winning multi-media package on how crime affects small businesses in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.
She was an active member of the Asian American Journalists Association and served as its Chicago chapter president for many years. She has co-directed an annual high school journalism camp and provided media strategy to public relations agencies and law firms.
Yue graduated from Purdue University with a degree in communications and is conversant in Mandarin. She is a retired recreational Ultimate Frisbee player, enthusiastic shower singer and a foodie.
