CHICAGO — DePaul University is marking a very special milestone: 125 years of engaging, diverse learning and service in Chicago. As part of the celebration, the university is teaming up with the Chicago Park District to provide free ice-skating sessions to the community at the Maggie Daley Park ice skating ribbon.

DePaul will sponsor 125 free skate tickets for each session on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023. Use promo code depaul125 to reserve tickets online at www.maggiedaleypark.com.

“Chicago is DePaul’s campus, and we are proud to connect people to the incredible resources available through the Chicago Park District,” said Robert L. Manuel, president of DePaul University. “Throughout our history, the city has been an extension of our classroom. Maggie Daley Park is a beautiful place to gather and connect, and we’re grateful to the Park District for their continued partnership.”

DePaul has collaborated with the Chicago Park District on several initiatives to benefit the community and celebrate 125 years in Chicago. Last summer, DePaul was the presenting sponsor of Movies in the Parks, bringing 150 films into communities across Chicago. In June of 2022, DePaul invested in renovations to basketball courts and facilities at Margaret Hie Ding Lin Park, deepening the university’s ties in the South Loop. There are nearly 125,000 DePaul alumni who live, work and play in the Chicagoland area.

“The Chicago Park District is excited to team up with DePaul University and celebrate this historic milestone for the institution by bringing free skating to all at the one-of-a-kind Maggie Daley Park ice skating ribbon on January 25,” said Chicago Park District Superintendent & CEO Rosa Escareño. “With support from partners like DePaul, the Park District brings quality, affordable programs to our parks citywide and offers exceptional opportunities for enrichment.”

Ice skating sessions will be offered Jan. 25 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Reservations are required to ensure availability of slots per session. Entrance includes admission and ice skate rental. The Maggie Daley Park ice skating ribbon is located at 337 E. Randolph St. in Chicago.
