Soumitra Ghosh, Ph.D., brings enrollment management experience from a wide range of universities to his new role as DePaul’s vice president for enrollment management. (Office of Admissions/Rowan University)CHICAGO — DePaul University has appointed Soumitra Ghosh, Ph.D., as its next vice president for enrollment management, effective May 1.
“DePaul is a legend in student access and success in higher education, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to serve in a role that will have the honor of shaping the future of this institution that I so respect,” said Ghosh.
A demonstrated leader in higher education, Ghosh brings enrollment management experience from a wide range of universities. Currently, he serves as vice president for strategic enrollment management at Rowan University, a nationally ranked public research institution in Glassboro, New Jersey, with nearly 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students. His responsibilities include overseeing the university’s student recruitment and recruitment marketing initiatives, as well as admissions and financial aid services for domestic and international students at various levels.
Prior to Rowan, Ghosh served as vice president for student enrollment and engagement at Quincy University, a small, Catholic, liberal arts university in Western Illinois.
“My professional path in enrollment management has been non-conventional,” said Ghosh. “I started in the student success and academic support side of university operations and was fortunate to find myself immersed in the broad and intricate latticework of enrollment management at Quincy University.”
With a doctorate in English and screen studies, Ghosh started his career as an assistant professor of humanities and director of the Academic Success Center at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. From there, he became dean for academic support at Quincy University, where his responsibilities expanded to include enrollment management.
“In addition to his extensive experience in higher education, Soumitra demonstrates a deep respect and passion for serving a mission-oriented university,” said Salma Ghanem, interim provost of DePaul University. “His dedication to student access combined with his innovative approach to overcoming challenges will benefit our entire university community.”
Ghosh earned his Ph.D. in English and screen studies at Oklahoma State University. He holds a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Calcutta University in West Bengal, India.
