(Photo provided by Stephen D'Amore)CHICAGO—Stephen D’Amore, a DePaul College of Law alumnus and longtime supporter, has been elected to join the Board of Trustees of DePaul University beginning July 1. This appointment is a continuation of D’Amore’s long-lasting dedication to supporting DePaul’s mission.
“Steve exemplifies the Vincentian values of service and personalism that are central to DePaul’s mission,” said DePaul President Robert L. Manuel. “As an alumnus, he brings our Catholic, Vincentian mission to life by opening doors for talented students pursuing careers in law. I look forward to working with him as we prepare our students to lead with integrity and make meaningful contributions to the evolving legal landscape.”
D'Amore is the chairman of Winston & Strawn LLP, a global law firm with nearly 1,000 attorneys in the United States, Europe and South America. Under his leadership, Winston & Strawn emphasizes legal excellence, access to opportunities and pro bono and community service initiatives. His passion has led him to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the governing board of Gilda’s Club of Chicago.
Since graduating from the College of Law In 1994, D’Amore has consistently supported DePaul’s mission to expand access to education. He and his wife, Kim D’Amore, gave the charter gift that created the First Generation in Law Scholars Program. The program began in 2022 and provides rising freshmen, sophomores and juniors enrolled in Chicago-area colleges and universities with a holistic experience that introduces them to the legal profession.
“It is an honor to serve the DePaul community, and the communities the university serves as well, together with President Manuel and the other Trustees of this great Chicago institution,” D’Amore said in connection with his appointment.
D’Amore spoke at the College of Law commencement ceremony in 2024 and encouraged students to achieve excellence through persistence and optimism, in the way of St. Vincent DePaul.
