Notifications

Setting up notifications will help learners to stay on top of their work.

Set Up Notifications

  1. Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner of D2L.
  2. Click on Notifications.

  3. Under "Contact method" you will see your current notification settings
    • Email Address: By default, the email address in D2L is the preferred email address you have designated in Campus Connect. See below for instructions on how to change this email address.
    • Mobile Number: You can register you mobile to receive text notifications. See below for instructions on how to register your mobile number.
  4. Under “Summary of Activity”, you can select how often you want a summary of activity for all your courses to be sent.

  5. Under “Instant notifications”, you can select whether you want an email and/or text to be sent for each of the triggers listed.
  6. Under “Customize Notifications”, you can choose if grades are included and which courses can send you notifications.
    • Select Include my grade value in notifications from Grades if you would like grades received in D2L to be included in the text of the notification.
    • Select Allow past courses to send me notifications if you would like courses from past terms to send you notifications
    • Select Allow future courses to send me notifications if you would like courses from future terms to send you notifications
    • Select Allow inactive courses to send me notifications if you would like courses that an instructor has made inactive (hidden from students) to send you notifications. Note that you will not be able to access the course regarding the contents of the notification.
  7. Under “Exclude Some Courses”, you can control on a course-by-course basis which courses cannot send you notifications. To designate courses you don’t want notifications from, click “Manage my course exclusions.”
  8. Click Save.

Change the Email Address for D2L Notifications

  1. Click Change your email settings under “Contact Methods.” The “Email Settings” window will pop up.

  2. Click on the radio button next to “Use custom email” and enter the email address you’d like notifications to go to.
  3. Click Save.

  4. Click Save again.
    • NOTE:

      A confirmation email will be sent to the email you listed. You will not receive notifications until you confirm the new email address.

Set up Text Notifications

  1. Under “Contact Methods” click the Register your mobile link. The “Register Your Mobile” window will pop up.
  2. Select your country.
  3. Select your mobile carrier.
  4. Enter your Mobile Number with your 3-digit area code.
  5. Click Save.

  6. A confirmation code will be sent to your phone. Enter that code in the field box.
  7. Click Confirm.

  8. Select the max number of messages you want to receive per day.
  9. Click Save.
