Summer Session 2017

CHE 128/FYSC 128: Basic Chemical Concepts (only Summer Session II)

This course develops the fundamental concepts of chemistry and basic quantitative reasoning with experimental exploration to complement the methods and ideas encountered in reading and class discussion. This course meets longer than traditional FYAS courses due to the lab component. The course is suitable for students who are intending to major in one of the natural sciences, but who are not yet prepared to take General Chemistry I (CHE 130).

MAT 94/FYSM 94: Basic Algebra

This course emphasizes work with numbers of ordinary arithmetic, use of a large variety of practical problems and situations from basic sciences as motivation.

NOTE: Summer Session I will take place online. Summer Session II will be a hybrid class.

MAT 95/FYSM 95: Introductory Algebra

This course is an introduction to basic algebra (concepts of variable, manipulation of simple algebraic expressions, linear equalities and inequalities, and graphical analysis) with continued emphasis on problem solving and applications.

MAT 100/FYSM 100: Introduction to Quantitative Reasoning

This course is an introduction to algebra with an emphasis on functions and modeling. Topics include linear functions and models, linear equations and inequalities, and exponential functions. Graphing technology will be extensively used.

MAT 101/FYSM 101: Intermediate Algebra

This course emphasizes number systems, solutions of equations and inequalities, coordinate systems, graphing, polynomial and rational expressions, exponents, and radicals.

MAT 130/FYSM 130: Precalculus

This course emphasizes functions, inverse functions, graphing, linear and quadratic functions, radicals and exponents, exponential and logarithmic functions.

WRD 102/FYSW 102: Basic Writing II (Only Summer Session II)

This course emphasizes practice in the forms of written exposition.

Winter Intersession 2017

This course emphasizes number systems, solutions of equations and inequalities, coordinate systems, graphing, polynomial and rational expressions, exponents, and radicals.

MAT 130/FYSM 130: Precalculus

This course emphasizes functions, inverse functions, graphing, linear and quadratic functions, radicals and exponents, exponential and logarithmic functions.
