DePaul strongly encourages anyone who will be learning, living or working on campus to be extremely cautious regarding any personal travel outside of the State of Illinois as an additional precaution to ensure the health and safety of the university community.
DePaul expects students, faculty and staff to abide by the Chicago Department of Public Health's Emergency Travel Order, which directs travelers to self-quarantine for a 14-day period if they are entering or returning to Chicago from a state experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases.
All members of the DePaul community should be cognizant of whether the Order applies to their personal travel. The list of covered states is updated every Tuesday. Please check the CDPH website frequently for the latest information. Individuals found in violation of the Order are subject to city fines of $100 to $500 per day, up to $7,000.
Students who will move into a DePaul residence hall from a state on the restricted list have several options for coordinating a 14-day self-quarantine with move-in. Visit the Housing website for instructions and answers to frequently asked questions.
All others who are entering or returning to Chicago after visiting a state covered by the Order should not attend on-campus classes, come to work on campus or visit campus for any other reason during the 14-day self-quarantine period.
Employees will be required to take vacation days, sick days or unpaid leave, if they are unable to work from home.
Anyone returning from international travel must follow CDC's Returning from International Travel resource page, which currently requires individuals to self-quarantine for 14 days.
