Return to the standard deadline and rules for the Pass/Fail grade option

January 5, 2021

Welcome back!  I hope the quarter is starting out well for you.

I’m sharing an important update that beginning winter quarter 2021, we are returning to the standard deadline and rules for requesting the Pass/Fail grading option.

Undergraduate students who have at least sophomore standing and are not on academic probation, may register for one Pass/Fail course each term. Permission to use the Pass/Fail option must be obtained from your academic advisor or from your college office by Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021. For courses of four weeks or less in duration, approval must be obtained before the second class meeting of the course.

The Pass/Fail option may not be used for all undergraduate requirements. You can view the full policy and restrictions here.

Most graduate programs do not allow classes to be completed Pass/Fail. You can find program specific policies here.

I hope your winter quarter is filled with much success.

Sincerely,
Michael Wright
