June 11, 2021
Dear students, faculty and staff,
Effective today the state of Illinois and city of Chicago have entered Phase V in their reopening plans. In alignment with steps to reopen the city, DePaul is making several changes to our COVID-19 protocol for the start of summer quarter. DePaul will continue to modify our guidelines over time if there are changes in the local and state reopening phases and as the university considers new guidance from public health entities.
Classroom capacity
For the summer term, classrooms will operate at previously planned reduced capacity and with 6-foot physical distancing.
Face masks
Starting Monday, June 14, fully vaccinated individuals who are on campus will be highly encouraged—though not required—to wear a face mask indoors. Individuals who have not been vaccinated are expected to wear a mask at all times. DePaul thanks our community for their cooperation thus far in wearing face masks to take care of one another. Since the start of the pandemic, DePaul has become a mask friendly campus—and we will continue to be a mask friendly campus out of concern and care for our fellow students and colleagues. If you are vaccinated and still want to wear a mask, not only should you wear a mask, you are encouraged to continue doing so to Take Care DePaul.
Face masks continue to be required on public transportation. The Chicago Transit Authority and Metra have established new protocols to welcome riders back safely. Please visit their websites to learn more.
Vaccination
The COVID-19 vaccine is a key part of allowing society to return to a safer, new normal. Thank you to the many students, faculty and staff who have already gotten vaccinated. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please do so at your earliest convenience—for your sake and for the safety of all of those you encounter. Resources are available on DePaul’s COVID-19 Vaccine webpage, including information on how students may submit proof of vaccination to comply with DePaul’s vaccination requirement.
