Update: Chicago Department of Public Health COVID-19 risk level

May 27, 2022

Yesterday, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated the county's COVID-19 risk level from medium to high. As we all prepare for the three-day weekend, please be sure to follow CDPH's guidelines out of concern for others and in the spirit of Take Care DePaul.

CDPH strongly recommends the following for all individuals:
  • Wear a mask indoors in public
  • Consider avoiding higher-risk activities such as crowded indoor gatherings
  • Limit gatherings to small numbers
  • Get tested if you have any symptoms
  • Order free rapid at-home tests
COVID-19 Community Levels were developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and are determined each week by county. Levels are based on the number of new local COVID-19 cases, the number of new local COVID-19 hospital admissions and the proportion of local hospital beds occupied by patients with the virus.

If you learn of a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the DePaul community, you are required to report it to the university through DePaul's secure third-party form.

The university will continue to monitor the situation, review CDPH and CDC guidelines, consult with on-campus stakeholders, and make adjustments as needed. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email DePaulCommunityHealth@depaul.edu.
