Joe Rice, M.A. in Political Science, is a social worker, educator, military veteran, and restorative justice practitioner. Perhaps the best way to describe his work is as a “pracademic”, insofar as he emphasizes student engagement in their communities. Currently Joe teaches first-year courses at DePaul - Discover Chicago, Explore Chicago, and the Focal Point Seminar - all of which employ a restorative approach to teaching and learning. He plans to deepen this restorative approach next year by training for the Inside Out Prison Exchange Program, and eventually teaching college courses in a correctional setting. Simply put, Joe is blessed to work at DePaul and is happy to call Chicago his home.
