My name is, Shavon Coleman. I grew up in the North Lawndale Community and graduated from Lawndale Community Academy elementary school. My grandfather was the Gym teacher at Lawndale forty-one years and I decided to continue the legacy. I have worked at Lawndale for eighteen years, as a teacher assistant in Pre-k, most of my tenure. I have also been on the Local School Council, Parent Action Committee, Professional Problems Committee, North Lawndale Parent & Community Coalition, and various other organizations. I am currently the Parent Engagement liaison at Lawndale Academy. I attended Jackson State University. I graduated from National Louis University. I am a mother of two amazing young ladies and grandmother of two grand-dogs, who happen to be girls as well. I trust and believe in God. I gladly serve my community as well as others who need assistance.​
