Mia Andersen graduated from DePaul University in Spring 2023 with a Master’s in School Counseling. She now works in Humboldt Park in a Chicago Public Elementary School. Prior, she supported the Egan Office for Urban Education and Community Partnerships as the manager of the Egan Family Engagement and Coalition Initiative, where she helped foster school and community partnerships and cultivate safe spaces for coalition building between the North and South Lawndale communities while introducing a family engagement process that provides educational and employment pathways. Mia also worked as a case manager for Heartland Alliance to support youth in reunifying with their families and working with individuals with severe mental illness to meet their goals. Lastly, Mia is heavily involved with the Illinois School Counseling Association, serving as co-chair of the advocacy committee. ​
