Richard has been a paramedic for 45 years, with experience in primary and critical care in multiple locations in Australia and the Asian Pacific region. He has lectured in paramedicine since 2005 and been a full-time continuing lecturer at Australian Catholic University since 2018. In addition to a PhD, he holds a Dip OHS, an Adv Dip Hlth Sc, a BBus (Transport & Logistics Management) and an MPH (dissertation on paramedic cardiovascular risk factors). He has a strong interest in the health of paramedics, integrating this knowledge into the Bachelor of Paramedicine curriculum. Richard considers service learning a vital component of the paramedicine program, having developed and enhanced the community engagement unit and grown placement opportunities for students with marginalised and disadvantaged groups. Richard is one of a growing number of health professionals who devote time to caring for those members of our community who experience homelessness.
