2024 Summer Hours

Dear Staff,

I am happy to announce that DePaul’s Summer Hours Program will be in-effect for the upcoming 2024 summer. The program will start on Friday, June 14 and will continue through August 30. Summer hours for the College of Law will run from Friday, May 24 through August 16 due to the college's semester schedule. Through the Summer Hours Program, full-time staff employees can leave early on Fridays at 3 p.m. For those employees whose jobs cannot accommodate early departures, they are able to take three summer floating days.

As previously announced, DePaul will be closed on Friday, July 5 this year, giving employees additional time to enjoy the Independence Day holiday with family and friends! All full-time staff and faculty will receive a paid holiday for the extended Independence Day holiday break. Exempt staff and faculty do not need to record holiday hours. Full-time non-exempt staff employees who are not working on Friday, July 5th should record the time as "holiday" on their timecards.

We encourage you to talk to your manager before planning your summer hours, who will need to ensure adequate coverage in your area. Regardless of the summer hours method you use - 3 p.m. early Friday departures or three floating summer days - your time away from work through this program needs to be recorded in BlueSky.

Non-exempt and exempt employees should enter summer hours in BlueSky using the following methods:
  • Use "Summer Hours" for 3 p.m. Early Friday Departures
  • Use "Summer Days" for Summer Floating Days
    • Note: If you use three Summer Floating Days and your normally scheduled workday is 7 hours, you may record a maximum of 21 hours.

Warm Regards,
