Building community this winter quarter

Dear Students,

Welcome to Winter Quarter! We hope you enjoyed the break and are feeling rested, recharged, and ready for the weeks ahead. As you jump into a new set of courses, we encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities at DePaul to build community, discover purpose, and create moments of connection, joy, and fun, both in and outside the classroom.

While the world around us can feel complex and challenging, what has not changed is DePaul’s commitment to you. Your education, well-being, and sense of belonging remain at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our Catholic, Vincentian mission, we continue to invest in the people, programs, and support systems that help you thrive and prepare for your future.

Even as the world around us presents challenges, we can choose to respond by strengthening our DePaul community and living out the care, generosity, and commitment to the common good that define our mission.

Here are just a few upcoming opportunities:

  • Foundation Day Celebration
Celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of the Mission and reflect on how you carry out the Vincentian legacy at DePaul, 12 – 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 in the Lincoln Park Student Center and DePaul Center 11th Floor in the Loop.
  • Becoming Peacemakers
Inspired by the faith-based non-violence of Martin Luther King Jr. and our Vincentian mission, all are invited to dedicate the day of Wednesday, Jan. 21, to reflection, prayer, action, and around the theme of becoming peacemakers. Join us for 15-minute prayers for peace and non-violence at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the Interfaith Sacred Space on the first floor of the Lincoln Park Student Center.
Catholic masses at noon at both the Loop and Lincoln Park chapels will be dedicated that day to prayers for peace and non-violence. Catholic Campus Ministry will host its weekly “Supper and Stories” in Suite 104 of the Lincoln Park Student Center from 5 - 6:00 p.m., commemorating Vincentian Foundation Day and the roots of our mission of faith-based service to a more just and peaceful world.

Student voices matter. Your insight and collaboration are essential as we shape DePaul’s future. As such, we are engaging with student leaders throughout the quarter to understand how we can continue to support your well-being, safety, and success.

As the quarter gets underway, we hope you feel supported, encouraged, and excited about what’s ahead. Your presence and contributions make DePaul the community what it is, and we look forward to all you will learn, experience, and achieve this winter.

Sincerely,
