Our fall dialogues, “Does democracy depend on us? Voting in 2026”, are next week in the Loop and on the Lincoln Park Campus. As we approach the 2026 midterm elections, these conversations will explore the power of voting and the role civic participation plays in advancing a more just and equitable society.

Throughout U.S. history, people have fought to expand voting rights and strengthen democratic participation. In these dialogues, we’ll reflect on that history, consider the challenges that remain, and discuss how voting shapes our country today.
Using a civil dialogue format, participants will consider a provocative statement and place themselves along a spectrum from “agree strongly” to “disagree strongly.” Together, we’ll make space for disagreement, curiosity and thoughtful reflection.
