Dear Faculty and Staff,
At DePaul, we know that every faculty and staff member has a role in supporting our students on their academic journeys. In our Vincentian tradition of respect for the dignity of every individual, we also recognize that financing a college education is a very personal and different experience for each student.
As many of you know, the One Big Beautiful Bill introduces major changes to federal student aid, including new loan caps, FAFSA updates, and repayment plan overhauls. The Office of Financial Aid is working with experts across the university to assess how this legislation will affect our students, their families, and our academic programs. We are also communicating directly with our students and their families about this law.
To help you care for and support our students, the Office of Financial Aid will be offering training sessions and resources.
What You Should Do Next:
- Learn More About One Big Beautiful Bill Changes: Visit DePaul’s Changes to Federal Financial Aid (OBBBA) webpage.
- Watch for details about upcoming webinars: We are planning to provide training on how to guide students through these changes.
- Stay Informed: Visit DePaul's Financial Aid website and StudentAid.gov for the latest updates and official information about these changes.
- Ask Questions: Contact the Office of Financial Aid for assistance with any questions you may have about these changes or how to support students.
Our goal is to ensure a smooth transition for all students. We appreciate your partnership in supporting them effectively during this period of adjustment. Should you have general questions about these legislative changes, please feel free to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Karen LeVeque-Szawara Asst. Vice President Office of Financial Aid |
