Dear Faculty and Staff,
Today is my first day as DePaul’s new provost, and I'm so honored to be here. From my very first visit to DePaul, I knew that this community was the right fit for me. What drew me here most was DePaul's Catholic, Vincentian mission and its unwavering commitment to ensuring higher education is a beacon of opportunity, service, and the public good. It's a mission that aligns closely with my own values.
My first months with you will be spent listening and learning. I already had the opportunity to meet with every dean in each college and school. I'm eager to learn more about the incredible work you are doing and the goals you are pursuing. I'm energized by the vision outlined in Designing DePaul. It reflects a university that is thoughtfully planning for its future while remaining grounded in its mission, and I look forward to helping advance that work alongside all of you.
I’m grateful to Salma Ghanem for the strong foundation she built as DePaul's provost and for her steady leadership during her tenure. I’ve had many conversations with her over these past several weeks and appreciate all the institutional wisdom she has shared with me.
I look forward to meeting many more members of our DePaul community as I continue to listen and learn. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I'm excited to share more with you at Academic Convocation this fall.
Sincerely,
Russell Ivy
