Board approves extending President Manuel’s contract

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce the extension of President Robert L. Manuel’s contract for an additional three years, extending his term from its original end date in 2028 to June 30, 2031. The Board unanimously approved this extension, in accordance with DePaul’s established historical process and practices for presidential reappointments, reflecting our strong confidence in President Manuel’s leadership and the university’s strategic trajectory.

Like many universities, DePaul is navigating a rapidly changing environment. The Board considers continuity of leadership to be integral to the university’s success at this pivotal moment. Our confidence in President Manuel is grounded on his strategic vision, ability to lead through complexity, fundraising accomplishments, exceptional skills in connecting DePaul to leaders across the city, state and country, and his deep commitment to DePaul’s Catholic, Vincentian values.

Now in his fourth year as our 13th president, President Manuel has been clear in articulating a clear mission-driven path focused on innovation and growth. With the Board’s endorsement, DePaul has entered the public phase of Mission: Forward , the most ambitious comprehensive campaign in DePaul’s history. We applaud President Manuel on the early success of this campaign, which will be critical as we invest in student success and academic distinction.

On behalf of the Board, we thank President Manuel for his continued dedication to DePaul’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners, and friends. We are confident that under his continued leadership, DePaul will advance on a path of excellence, access, and distinction.

Sincerely,

Michael Scudder
