Resources for undocumented and international students

Dear Students,

We have received questions about the potential impact of evolving federal immigration and visa policies on our university community. We understand that this uncertainty may be causing apprehension and stress for many.

As a Catholic, Vincentian university, DePaul remains deeply committed to our mission, which calls on us to protect the most vulnerable and uphold the dignity of all people. In keeping with that mission, we welcome all students and are dedicated to supporting you throughout your time here, regardless of citizenship status.

To address concerns and provide clarity, frequently asked questions about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on DePaul University property can be found here

In the spirit of care and community, we are sharing the following resources available to you for guidance and support:
The following entities have released “Know Your Rights” information:
The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights also published the following resources:
  • A list of local non-profit agencies providing free or low-cost assistance with immigration matters.
  • A list of organizations that assist in multiple languages with public benefits, state resource centers, food pantries, emergency assistance, financial assistance, housing, utilities, and more.
  • A list of nonprofit organizations that can assist with citizenship and DACA renewals.
This message is shared with the support of DePaul President Rob Manuel, Provost Salma Ghanem, and Executive Vice President Sherri Sidler. If you need further assistance, please reach out to Student Affairs, Mission and Ministry, or Institutional Diversity and Equity. Our offices are here to help. Additionally, we know our DePaul faculty and staff across the university are tremendously dedicated to your well-being and success.

During this time of uncertainty, we encourage you to support one another with grace and compassion. Take care of yourself; take care of each other; take care DePaul.

Sincerely,

Kimberlie L. Goldsberry
