Staying Safe: Important Reminders

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

Welcome to the 2024-25 academic year! As we begin the fall term, Public Safety encourages the community to familiarize itself with important steps you can take to help keep the campus safe.

Review safe travel options on and around campus
Students have several options for free, safe transportation on and around DePaul’s campuses.

Update your information for DPU Alert
DPU Alert notifies the DePaul community of an emergency on or around campus. Be sure to verify your contact information for DPU Alert in Campus Connect.

Know building exits and secure locations
Know locations of exits of buildings you frequent so you can respond quickly in a fire alarm or other emergency. View short videos on door barricades and what to do if you hear gunfire on campus.

In general, in the case of an active threat, fire, or medical emergency, first call 911 and then Public Safety at the Loop Campus (312-362-8400) or the Lincoln Park Campus (773-325-7777).

Review general safety tips
DePaul wants our community to feel safe and stay safe, and there are many ways that you can improve your safety and the safety of others. See more safety tips while on- and off-campus here.

Sincerely,
Bob Wachowski, Director Public Safety
