Zoom AI Companion option for DePaul faculty and staff

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Starting July 1, DePaul faculty and staff will have the option to enable the AI Companion in Zoom meetings—a suite of features designed to enhance meetings and collaboration. The AI Companion is only available if enabled by the meeting host, and participants will be notified via a pop-up when it is active. Those who prefer not to use the AI Companion can simply choose not to enable it.

At DePaul, confidentiality and privacy are taken seriously, and we are committed to safeguarding personal and institutional information. Before enabling the AI Companion feature, faculty and staff are encouraged to review this privacy and security information.

Please check out the getting started with Zoom AI Companion features article to see all of the ways Zoom AI Companion can assist with task management and completion.

How to enable Zoom AI Companion for meetings:
  1. Login to depaul.zoom.us.
  2. On the left-hand menu, select Settings.

  3. Select the AI Companion tab.
  4. Since AI Companion is only available in Meeting-related functions, scroll down to the Meetings, Recording, Clips, and Whiteboard sections and select the options you would like to enable.
  5. Feel free to disable these options at any time.
You still must choose to use AI Companion in meetings, and attendees will be notified when AI Companion is turned on for the meeting. After enabling these features, select the AI Companion button in Zoom meetings:

A few tutorials for tasks DePaul employees can perform with Zoom AI Companion:
  • In-meeting questions: Use this feature to have your AI Companion perform tasks like catching up on missed topics without interrupting the meeting.
  • Meeting summary: Meeting hosts can select the option to either start or stop meeting summary through the in-meeting controls.
  • Edit and share summaries: Go to your account and settings. Select summaries. This is where users can edit the generated summary as they choose.
