Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,
Last fall, we shared how the Hispanic-Serving Institution Task Force was off to a strong start, formalizing DePaul’s commitment to becoming an HSI. Securing this designation remains an important focus area of Designing DePaul, our collaborative effort that includes all university partners and communities working together to plan DePaul’s future.

DePaul’s HSI Task Force Paves the Way for Certification
Next month, I head to the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute conference with Mónica Haydeé Ramos, associate director of the Egan Office for Urban Education and Community Partnerships. We’ll connect with other education leaders and federal officials who help emerging HSI institutions prepare for the certification process. I’m happy to share that DePaul’s HSI plan is underway, incorporating valuable input from several Latinx student organizations like MESA, ALPHA, TEPEYAC and DePaul NAISA, as well as Latinx students not part of the student organizations listed above. The next HSI Task Force meeting is scheduled for Feb. 13, and I will share another update at that time.
