Newsline Daily is an email digest created by University Communications and delivered every Monday to all students, faculty and staff. It includes important university news and updates; feature stories on DePaul community members, programs and initiatives; DePaul in the News items (links to external stories about DePaul or that DePaul community members are quoted or referenced); mission inspiration and upcoming events. If you are a member of the university community and would like to submit an item to Newsline, please note:
Articles appropriate for Newsline are of broad-based interest to the majority of faculty, staff and students who read Newsline, such as:
- Major publications, awards, honors or accreditations
- Large events open to and appropriate for most or all DePaul community members
- Introduction of new leaders at DePaul
- New programs or initiatives, or significant updated programs or initiatives, that are open to, of interest to or affect the majority of the university community.
Follow the steps outlined below for each section of the digest.
Feature Stories
Do you have a story idea for Newsline? Share your idea with us here.
Please note that timely items for immediate publication should be submitted in final draft form and not exceed 600 words.
- Please include a headline and byline (author)
- When appropriate, please share any related photos or graphics you may have.
- Please provide a photo credit and caption, if appropriate.
- If no photo is submitted, stock photos of DePaul buildings, signage, campus scenes, students, faculty or staff will be used in the newsletter.
Feature story idea submissions will be considered but are not guaranteed to be developed and published. Story ideas that are assigned to University Communications staff may take four or more weeks to write and publish.
Events
Every issue of Newsline features selected events that are happening in the coming week. Events must be open to the university community or the public.
In order for your event to be considered for this section of Newsline, it MUST be posted on events.depaul.edu.
- Events posted in DeHub and tagged as public will automatically appear at events.depaul.edu
- Newsline staff use events.depaul.edu as the primary source for selecting events to be featured in each issue.
If your event is posted on events.depaul.edu and you would like to request it be included in Newsline , please email newsline@depaul.edu. All requests must be received AT LEAST 48 hours prior to publication.
Scene at DePaul
Scene at DePaul shares pictures of the campus and community with faculty, staff and students. Pictures submitted must be of high quality and landscape orientation. Submitters are also asked to write a caption for the photo that provides information on who and what is pictured and where the picture was taken. Please also provide photo credit for the person who took the picture.
