In November, alumnus Brenton Ryan (MUS '09), celebrated for his “remarkable tonal suavity and refined phrasing” (Opera News), will make a notable return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Basilio in “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Known for his vocal versatility and dramatic depth, Ryan has graced international stages with acclaimed opera houses and orchestras. In the 2024–2025 season, he will debut as Peter Quint in Britten's “The Turn of the Screw,” conducted by Gemma New, and as Tony in Francesca Zambello's production of “West Side Story” with Houston Grand Opera.
