DePaul students will play games, paint faces and entertain crowds at two parks this month as part of the university's sponsorship of the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Parks. University community members are invited to attend.
DePaul will observe its 125th anniversary this academic year, celebrating the past and looking to the future. The university's deep connection to Chicago is at the center of this celebration.
"As a newcomer to the city, I'm thrilled to showcase our talented students and meet Chicago families, all while enjoying our beautiful parks," says DePaul President Rob Manuel. "I want to ensure DePaul continues to be a vibrant and vital partner for our community."
DePaul is the first university to sponsor the park district's summer film series.
"The Chicago Park District is grateful to DePaul University for providing support to host Chicago's signature summer activities, Movies in the Parks, in neighborhood parks citywide," says Chicago Park District Superintendent and CEO Rosa Escareño. "For more than 20 years, the Movies in the Parks programming has been instrumental in activating our community green spaces and bringing families, friends and neighbors together to enjoy free outdoor entertainment and enliven Chicago's parks."
Families can enjoy giveaways, inflatables, face painting, and other DePaul-themed activities. There will also be a free raffle of tickets to the men's and women's basketball home opener games. Activities begin at 6:45 p.m. in the following parks, with movies beginning at dusk.
