Core Color

Blue is our core color and should appear prominently on all DePaul marketing materials.

* Certain print processes use CMYK 100-80-0-0 as an alternate core blue. This alt Core Blue is best for some forms of Digital Printing like the Canon Image Press with Fiery driver that DePaul Print and Mailing Services uses. It also may be best for some vendors like Sticker Mule and for materials intended to be printed on an office printer.

Secondary Colors

Sometimes other colors are needed, so we have developed a secondary palette. Secondary colors should be used sparingly.

Blue and white are our academic colors. For academic materials, the best secondary colors to add are White, Pale Blue, Light Blue, Navy and Gray.

Blue and red are our spirit colors. For athletic materials and events that build school spirit, the best secondary colors to add are White, Light Blue, Red and Black. Be intentional about how you use the red, which is more appropriate in small doses.

Color Usage

The DePaul core brand color is PMS 293C. Core blue and white are the academic colors for DePaul University. Red is no longer an academic color but may be used in very small doses where urgency is needed. For instance, a red graphic could be used for an urgent call to action in an email header, but should not be the entire background color.

Blue and red are our spirit colors. Be intentional about how you use red, which is more appropriate in very small doses and on materials intended to build school spirit. Even when using red for school spirit, it should be used in the most minimal way.

The color wheel is intended to show that our core blue should be prominent, as it represents our brand. There should be some core blue in all designs. Secondary blues can be used as needed to add depth, layers and tonal variation. Red should not be used at all in academic materials, except in the instance of creating urgency or if school spirit is also a significant factor.
