Student health insurance website and info sessions

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

I hope you enjoyed a happy and healthy spring break and had a good start to spring quarter. Today, I am happy to announce the launch of the dedicated website for student health insurance and invite students to information sessions in April and May.

New Student Health Insurance Website by AHP

DePaul is partnering with Academic HealthPlans (AHP) to administer the new health insurance plan and manage the waiver process. AHP’s website (https://depaul.myahpcare.com) for the DePaul Health Insurance Plan offers details about plan benefits, rates, providers, waiver criteria, waiver instructions and more.

For international students, a list of plans that qualify for a waiver is on the website.

As a reminder, all degree-seeking students will be required to have active health insurance at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year. Students will be automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan from UnitedHealthcare, unless they waive coverage with proof of active coverage.

In my last message, I shared the coverage period* for the UnitedHealthcare plan is September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025. For those who wish to opt out, the waiver period will begin May 15, 2024, and end September 20, 2024.

*The coverage period for Law students is August 20, 2024 through August 19, 2025.

Information Sessions

Students can learn more about the health insurance plan and the waiver process, as well as ask questions during our virtual info sessions* hosted on Zoom. Our AHP partners will present and answer questions during these info sessions.

Students must register on DeHUB to attend any of the following Zoom info sessions:
*An info session will be recorded and posted online for those who are unable to attend live.

Once a student is registered, an email will be sent to them with a Zoom link for the info session they selected. Students are encouraged to submit general health insurance-related questions to studentinsurance@depaul.edu in advance, so they are addressed during an info session.

What’s Next

For students who want to opt out of the UnitedHealthcare plan, the waiver period begins May 15. Once students register for fall classes, they will receive an email with instructions on how to log in to the AHP portal and provide proof of other health insurance coverage.

We will continue to post Student Health Insurance updates on the Office of Health Promotion and Wellness website and Designing DePaul website. In the meantime, students may email insurance-related questions to studentinsurance@depaul.edu.

Take care,
