The Rev. John T. Richardson, C.M., 9th president of DePaul University, passes away at 98

​​The Rev. John T. Richardson, C.M., a visionary who led the historic expansion of DePaul University during his 12-year presidency, has died. He passed away, March 29, at age 98 at the Apostle of Charity residence at St. Mary's of the Barrens in Perryville, Mo.

Whether it was the Great Chicago Flood of 1992, which required Facility Operations crews to work 20-hour days for two weeks or one of countless other unpredictable emergency scenarios, Janis has seen it all. On Friday, he shared with Facility Operations staff his decision to retire, effective Oct. 31.

A string master class with Philip Setzer

​Last quarter, Philip Setzer (center), a violinist with the world-famous Emerson String Quartet, coached a string master class in the Holtschneider Performance Center. The Emerson String Quartet, named "America's greatest quartet" by TIME magazine, is one of the most celebrated classical music quartets of all time. The ensemble is the recipient the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize and Musical America's coveted "Ensemble of the Year" Award, as well as nine Grammys and three Gramophone Awards.
