Are you ready to get your holiday spirit on? Have you always wanted an ugly sweater for a holiday party? Here's your big chance. This year, DePaul University is starting a new tradition, and all faculty, staff and students are invited to participate. Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 7 for the inaugural DePaul Tree Lighting Ceremony. Prior to the tree lighting ceremony, all students are invited to attend an Ugly Sweater Party.
Faculty, staff, student and administration representatives of the Strategic Resource Allocation Committee, or SRAC, have begun meeting to prepare a budget recommendation for DePaul’s 2019-20 fiscal year.
After the recent conclusion of elections, the Workplace Environment Committee for adjunct faculty has begun its work for the 2018-19 academic year.
Today, Nov. 1, the DePaul School of Music kicks off “Unveiled: A Celebration of Music,” an 11-day music festival to honor the newly constructed Holtschneider Performance Center. While the eyes and ears of faculty, staff, students and the broader Chicago community will tune in to the performances on stage, the School of Music's technical director, Michael Sportiello, will be behind the scenes, ensuring the more than 40 festival events run smoothly.
On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the Office of Health Promotion and Wellness will host the second annual Midnight Breakfast from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. There will be free food served by faculty, staff and DePaul’s President A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., and his wife, Josephine. Students can RSVP to attend the event. Faculty and staff can sign up to volunteer at the midnight meal.
More than 600 entrepreneurship conference leaders from across the world attended the 2018 Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Center Conference cohosted by DePaul University’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center and the Illinois Institute of Technology. With a theme of “Entrepreneurship in Chicago: Big City, Big Impact!,” the conference took place on the DePaul and IIT campuses from Oct. 18-20.
As we are now already approaching final exams in the first quarter of our academic year, I would like to thank you for your assistance in helping our student athletes achieve academic success. By participating in intercollegiate competition, our DePaul student athletes contribute greatly to enhancing the national recognition and reputation of our university. In the process, they have to make many sacrifices in order to coordinate their academic responsibilities with time expended in practice and competition.
The ticket lottery for the 2018 Christmas at DePaul performances closes tomorrow, Nov. 2. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to submit their names to the lottery.

More than 600 entrepreneurship conference leaders from across the world attended the 2018 Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Center Conference co-hosted by DePaul University’s Coleman Entrepreneurship Center and the Illinois Institute of Technology. The three-day conference explored a variety of entrepreneurship education topics through a packed schedule of workshops, panels and facilitated round-table discussion.

Next Tuesday, Nov. 6, is Election Day. All DePaul employees are encouraged to exercise their right to vote. Early voting is now underway in Illinois and ends on November 5. University policy allows all voter-eligible staff and faculty up to two hours off regular working hours to vote. Read on to review the full policy.
From Monday, Oct. 29 through Friday, Nov. 2, the Tibetan Monks of Drepung Gomang Monastery will visit DePaul University. During their visit, the monks will engage in the step-by-step creation of a traditional sand mandala, an ancient art form of Tibetan Buddhism. All members of the university community are invited to witness the art creation and participate in associated events throughout the week.
