Week of Making culminates in launch of IRL2 at DePaul

Two years after the opening of DePaul’s first makerspace, the Idea Realization Lab, the university opened its newest hub on the Lincoln Park Campus on Sept. 11. Dubbed the IRL2, this new space aims to serve the creative and educational needs of LPC community members. Later this month, a Week of Making will end with the grand opening of the space on Friday, Sept. 27.​

'Wicked problem' of homelessness: Honors seminar taught by DePaul deans

More than 86,000 Chicagoans were homeless in 2017, according to an estimate from the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. The number is staggering and how to fix the problem is a question asked by many. One DePaul course this past spring evoked the university’s namesake - St. Vincent de Paul - in asking "what must be done" to help the university community play a greater role in addressing homelessness in Chicago.​

School of Continuing and Professional Studies: What’s New?

On July 1, DePaul officially launched the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, a new college-level unit dedicated to providing degree and non-degree programs to adult learners at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The new school integrates the former School for New Learning and office of Continuing and Professional Education. SCPS continues to deliver the full complement of programs of both former units, and it fully serves the students and alumni of all programs.​

$20M gift establishes The Grace School of Applied Diplomacy

This fall, DePaul received a $20 million gift from anonymous benefactors to establish The Grace School of Applied Diplomacy. Housed within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the Grace School will be the first of its kind in the world to implement a transprofessional model.​
