DePaul University names John Milbauer dean of the School of Music

DePaul University Provost Salma Ghanem announced John Milbauer will serve as the dean of the School of Music effective July 1. Milbauer, a Steinway Artist who comes from the University of Arizona, brings almost 25 years of musical accomplishments and background, with performances throughout the Americas, Asia and Europe and awards from several prestigious organizations.

DePaul updates COVID-19 vaccination requirement

In light of current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and federal and state government actions, DePaul will no longer require the COVID-19 vaccination for students, faculty and staff, effective Friday, May 12. Students entering DePaul beginning Summer Session 1 (June 12) and later will not be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

Co-founded by Yaxi Yang, a graduate of the Driehaus College of Business, Visual Feeder produces immersive activations and transforms vacant storefront windows into dynamic displays to create vibrant and engaging streetscapes.

Check out these pictures from DePaul Night at Wrigley Field, when the Cubs played the St. Louis Cardinals. DIBS greeted fans arriving at the ballpark, Director of Athletics DeWayne Peevy threw out the first pitch, and School of Music student Grace Ryan sang the national anthem.

The next generation of gamers
On April 22, DePaul hosted an Illinois High School Association Esports Sectional event with more than 200 students, parents and coaches. The event featured popular video games, including Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, FIFA and Rocket League. Winners in each game earned the chance to advance to the state finals. The event was a great opportunity for students to showcase their skills, socialize with peers and highlight the growing popularity of esports in high schools. (Photo courtesy of Stephen Wilke)
