DePaul condemns all forms of hatred, including antisemitism. We are committed to ensuring DePaul is a safe and welcoming space for every member of our community.

Supporting Jewish students has been important to DePaul since our beginning

For more than 125 years, DePaul has welcomed students of every faith tradition into our community. At the time of our founding in 1898, DePaul opened its doors to the children and grandchildren of Jewish and Catholic immigrants when they had limited ways to access higher education due to religious quotas at other schools. Today, DePaul continues to be a place where all are welcome, which has always been the hallmark of the university’s Catholic, Vincentian mission.

Facing antisemitism in the world and on our campus

Like so many others, we at DePaul University continue to be affected by the events of October 7, 2023. Our students, faculty, and staff have all felt the effects of the uncertainty, fear, and humanitarian concerns resulting from the war in the Middle East. When two Jewish members of our university community were attacked in November of 2024, university leadership acted swiftly to denounce the incident and increase security on campus

We are building dialogue, and there is more work to be done

We are proud of how our campus community has come together to build programs and spaces that foster dialogue, understanding and healing in the wake of these events. We are called to do more, and we will identify programming and services that will specifically address antisemitism, as well as all forms of hatred and discrimination. Below, please find resources and information about actions the university is taking to confront antisemitism.
