DePaul is committed to creating an environment free from harassment and discrimination. Training and education are key components to confronting antisemitism on campus.
Through university-wide communication, the university has made policies and expectations clear. We will continue to do everything possible to ensure DePaul is a safe and welcoming space for every member of our diverse university community.
We administer training to confront antisemitism and are open to expanding these offerings:
-
DePaul also offers antisemitism training for faculty and staff with assistance from the university’s Jewish Faculty and Staff employee resource group, in collaboration with the Jewish United Fund Chicago and Hillel International.
- DePaul leadership has also sought ways to increase our capacity to respond to the needs of our Jewish community. For the past several years, senior administrators have participated in Hillel’s Campus Climate Initiative, a program that empowers college leaders to combat antisemitism on their campuses. They also attended the Hillel International CCI Retreat in Cleveland, Ohio, in February of 2024.
DePaul requires education and training to prevent harassment and discrimination:
-
DePaul’s annual, mandatory compliance training for all employees, including staff, faculty and student employees, includes anti-discrimination and anti-harassment modules.
-
The training focuses on
DePaul’s Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment policy, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, national origin, ethnicity, and religion, all of which encompasses acts of antisemitic discrimination or harassment.
We recognize that for a significant portion of our Jewish community, Israel is a core part of their Jewish identity.
