Dear Faculty,
The DePaul AI Institute is excited to announce a series of signature events designed to strategically integrate artificial intelligence into academic activities. These events aim to enhance student learning and foster critical thinking skills. The AI in Teaching Symposiums offer an excellent opportunity for DePaul faculty and staff to showcase how they have successfully incorporated AI activities or assignments into their teaching. These quick, straightforward demonstrations can be easily adapted for use in other courses at the university.
We are currently soliciting proposals from faculty members interested in developing and presenting a brief demonstration at the second AI in Teaching Symposium. The deadline for proposal submissions is Monday, September 23. Please submit your proposal using the
Proposal Submission Form.
For this Symposium, we will select up to four faculty members to present. The event will take place on Friday, October 18, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the DePaul Center. You can register to attend the Symposium at the
event registration page.
Here are the guidelines for the presentations:
- Presentations should be no longer than ten minutes, focusing on an AI assignment, practice, or concept that can be implemented in other courses at DePaul.
- Allow up to five minutes for Q&A.
- Each presentation must be accompanied by written resources (overview, recommendations, links, etc.), which will be shared on the web.
- Presentations must be delivered live from the DePaul Center during the Symposium.
- A high-quality recording of your presentation will be made for inclusion in the Institute’s library of instructional AI use cases. This recording can be completed after the Symposium but must be finished by the end of the fall quarter.
- Presenters will receive a $500 honorarium.
The Symposium will be offered in a Flex format. While sessions will be recorded, the recordings will be available only to DePaul faculty and staff through a password-protected stream. High-quality recordings for the use case library will be recorded in the Driehaus College of Business video studio on the 8th floor of the DePaul Center. The time commitment for this effort includes a 15-minute Zoom call prior to recording and approximately 45 minutes on the recording day. Your assets and recording will then be publicly shared on the web.
We look forward to your innovative proposals and participation in the Symposium.
Best regards,
