While this year will be remembered for its many challenges, the DePaul Class of 2020 will be defined by everything they achieved and their connections to the DePaul community. To celebrate our graduates' academic journeys, DePaul is excited to share updates on how the university plans to honor the Class of 2020.

On Saturday, June 13, 2020, DePaul will launch celebratory online commencement ceremonies for graduates, families and friends to view and share. These ceremonies will be available on the commencement website for the next year.

The ceremonies have been planned to give the DePaul community and graduates' loved ones a chance to recognize and celebrate in a safe manner. This will be a unique commencement experience created for unprecedented times. Once it is safe to bring people together again, DePaul will consider how to honor graduating classes with in-person celebrations.

Each school or college will have its own dedicated ceremony, featuring DePaul President A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., a student speaker and the dean from each college or school, and a notable alum—whose name will be announced as June 13 approaches.

Also, each graduate will be featured on a digital slide, such as the one above with DIBS, that can be personalized with a photo and message.

Graduates should keep an eye on their mailboxes in early June because the university is sending a special kit to help them prepare for June 13.

What 2020 graduates need to do:

  • Review diploma mailing address: Go to Campus Connect to verify that their diploma mailing address is correct by Monday, May 4, 2020. The university needs this address for their kit and, later, for mailing their diploma. To review it, follow this path: Profile>Addresses>Diploma Address.
  • Personalized slides: In the coming days, look for an email from commencement@depaul.edu to upload information to personalize their commencement slide. Graduates will need to upload all their materials by Saturday, May 9, 2020, to guarantee that their names are read aloud when their slide appears.
  • Graduation regalia: Review the university's cap and gown options on the commencement website. Options that are available include ordering regalia or requesting a refund.

As June 13 nears, more information will be shared in Newsline and on the commencement website.
