This year, DePaul will celebrate its fifth Blue Demon Week. Starting Sunday, Feb. 18, the university will host activities designed to bring our community together and make us proud to be DePaul Blue Demons.

From the kick-off parties to the dodgeball showdown, the weeklong celebration has something for every member of the DePaul community. Listen to students perform at the open mic night on Feb. 21 or Polarpalooza on Feb. 22. Join the watch party to root for DePaul women's basketball as they battle St. John's University in the Demon Den on Friday, Feb. 23. Cheer on DePaul men's basketball as they take on Marquette at the Wintrust Arena on Feb. 24 - also known as Blue Demon Day.

Because service is at the heart of our Vincentian mission, I also ask you to consider giving back at this year's Blue Demon Week. You may wish to participate in the Bleed Blue Blood Drive hosted by the Red Cross on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Or consider supporting the Blue Demon Challenge on Thursday, Feb. 22. During this one-day challenge, if 1,000 people make a gift of any size to DePaul, an anonymous donor will give $50,000 to the university. This generous gift will be used to provide need-based scholarships, helping to keep DePaul accessible to all students, regardless of the ability to pay.

A complete list of events is available on the Blue Demon Week website. Follow along on social media with #BDW2018 for event updates and photos from your peers and colleagues around campus.

Jo and I look forward to joining you for our very first Blue Demon Week at DePaul.  We especially appreciate all the hard work DePaul students, faculty and staff have dedicated to organizing this year's activities. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Blue Demon Week, and we will see you there!
