Congratulations to winners of Fulbright, Boren and other featured scholarships

This spring, a number of Blue Demons won Fulbright U.S. Student Program, Boren and other featured scholarships. From Jordan to Taiwan, nine DePaul students and alumni will use their scholarships to study in the 2021-22 academic year across a range of disciplines:

Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program winners

  • Muhammad Saad Ahmed '19: economics and international studies majors; global Asian studies minor; Taiwan
  • Hannah Hartung '20: elementary education major; psychology minor; Taiwan

Fulbright Study/Research Grant winners

  • Stephanie LeBolt '21: Master of Fine Arts in directing; Germany
  • Renee Menart '16: political science major; peace, justice and conflict studies minor; Philippines
  • Sophia Elbchiri '19: Arabic studies and peace, justice and conflict studies majors; Morocco (alternate)
  • Morgan Spears '15: sociology major; economics minor; Oman (alternate)

Other recipients of featured scholarships

  • Egerton Abulu, Killam fellowship, Fulbright-MITACS Globalink fellowship: political science major; women’s and gender studies minor; Canada
  • Lexi Jackson, Fulbright Austria US Teaching Assistantship: philosophy and German studies majors; bioethics and society and biological sciences minors; Austria
  • Clare VanSpeybroeck, Boren Scholar: Arabic studies and international studies majors, community studies minor; Jordan

Students looking to apply for this year’s Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant cycle should contact Phillip Stalley. Those eligible for the program must be U.S. citizens who are graduating seniors, graduate students or alumni.
