Holiday building closures

Lincoln Park Campus
(DePaul University/Jamie Moncrief)

In an email earlier this November, the university shared information about holiday building closures. With the end of the fall quarter upon us, we wish to take this opportunity to advise you on several Facility Operations and Public Safety issues that may affect you or your department during the period that the university is closed from the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 22, until the university reopens the morning of Monday, Jan. 3.

Questions concerning this information may be directed to the Facility Operations or Public Safety Offices.

Building heat

From Wednesday evening, Dec. 22, until the university reopens on Monday, Jan. 3, all Loop and Lincoln Park Campus buildings will be heated to a building protection level only, which is in the 50- degree range. Please dress accordingly if you are planning to access any university facilities. There will be no exception to this as energy conservation is one of the primary reasons the university closes for the entire holiday week.

Building access and Public Safety

Individuals or departments that must access university facilities during the holiday break must observe the following guidelines.

Advance notification

Deans and department heads must send an e-mail to Public Safety no later than Friday, December 3, 2021 containing the following information:

  • Names of individuals/department sections requiring access
  • Dates, times and facilities where access is required.

Loop Campus based departments should direct their access request to Kevin Connolly, the assistant director of Public Safety for the Loop Campus. Lincoln Park based departments should direct their access request to Mike Dohm, the assistant director of Public Safety for the Lincoln Park Campus.

Access to Lincoln Park Campus facilities

Personnel accessing facilities are required to:

  • Report to the Public Safety dispatcher's office, Centennial Hall, 2345 N. Sheffield, Suite 304 or call (773) 325-7777 to advise they have arrived at the designated building so that an officer can be sent to let them in.
  • Have in their possession a current DePaul ID and keys to their office. No one will be admitted without a DePaul ID.
  • Ensure entry and exit doors to the building are not propped open for any reason.
  • Phone Public Safety (773) 325-7777 when ready to leave and secure their office and departmental area.

Access to Loop Campus facilities

Personnel accessing facilities are required to:

  • Present a current DePaul ID and sign-in at the Public Safety lobby desk in the building of destination. No one will be admitted without a DePaul ID.
    • If you are unable to gain access it may be due to the Public Safety Officer conducting patrols in the building. In the event this happens, go to the DePaul Center lobby desk at 1 E. Jackson Blvd. The officer on duty will arrange for entry to your building.
  • Secure your office or departmental area when leaving.
  • Sign out at the Public Safety station.
  • In the event you need to speak to Public Safety while on campus call (312) 362-8400.
